Post-Disaster Spillovers: Evidence from Iranian Provinces

This paper studies the relationship between natural disasters and economic growth in disaster-prone country of Iran, using a spatial Durbin panel model covering time period from 2010 to 2016 including 29 provinces. The results empirical investigation suggest that there is statistically significant positive spatially-lagged occurrence change first difference logarithm GDP per capita. Moreover, estimations support findings previous cross-country studies, namely we cannot find evidence for direct effect on short term. When time-lags, can see after two years. taking into account disaster type, which mainly earthquake flood case spillover effects are, rather, driven by earthquakes, floods run.
